ACLS Welcomes the University of California, Riverside as Member of the ACLS Research University Consortium
The American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS) is pleased to welcome the University of California, Riverside as a new member of the ACLS Research University Consortium.
The ACLS Research University Consortium comprises a select group of Associate Members of the American Council of Learned Societies. These prominent institutions play a vital leadership role in helping to sustain and enhance the national infrastructure of humanities research. The Consortium has also served as a vital partner in the ACLS Emerging Voices Fellowships Program, with many member institutions serving as host institutions for fellows.
“We are excited and honored to welcome the University of California, Riverside as a member of the ACLS Research University Consortium,” said ACLS President Joy Connolly. “The College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Science hosts an exciting community of outstanding scholars, and through its programming and curricula, it serves as a beacon for all, including first-generation college students. We applaud its status as the UC system’s first campus to earn the formal designation as a Hispanic Serving Institution. We look forward to working with Dean Daryle Williams, and benefitting from his and his colleagues’ and students’ knowledge and perspectives as we work together to advance the fields we value so deeply.”

Representatives of ACLS Consortium member institutions meet regularly, which provides vital opportunities to share and explore solutions in response to the most urgent issues facing the academy.
“It’s been my goal to bring CHASS into the room where it happens, into the places where the major players in humanities and social sciences meet, where they discuss what research looks like and the importance of our scholarship,” said Daryle Williams, dean of the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences at UC Riverside.
