Yotala Oszkay Febres-Cordero F’22, ACLS Leading Edge Fellow at the Alliance for Community Transit-Los Angeles (ACT-LA), has published a new op-ed in the Los Angeles Times. In the article, “Cars don’t have to rule Culver City, or the future of L.A. transit,” she discusses the upcoming Culver City Council vote on the mobility project Move Culver City, a pilot of protected bus and bike lanes put in place during the pandemic along a 1.3-mile downtown corridor.
Well-supported bus and bike infrastructure is the cheapest and fastest approach to making transit more accessible, equitable, environmentally sustainable and convenient, which will make our urban spaces more livable as a result.

Febres-Cordero was appointed Applied Research Specialist at ACT-LA through the ACLS Leading Edge Fellowship Program, supported by the Mellon Foundation. ACT-LA is a coalition of 42 organizations that fight for housing and transit justice in Los Angeles County. The organization strives to create just, equitable, sustainable transit systems and neighborhoods for all people in Los Angeles, placing the interest of low-income communities and communities of color first.
