James Shulman Discusses His New Book at New York City Event
On Wednesday, October 4, 2023, Princeton University Press and The Corner Bookstore in Manhattan hosted a lively discussion on The Synthetic University, a new book by ACLS Vice President James Shulman that argues for a mission-aligned approach to collective action in addressing the rising costs of higher education.
Participants in the discussion included Armando Bengochea, Senior Program Officer with The Mellon Foundation; Ann Fabian, Distinguished Professor of History, emerita, Rutgers University, and former member of the ACLS Board of Directors; Robert Kasdin, former Executive Vice President, Columbia University; Alex Welcome, professor of sociology, LaGuardia Community College; and Carol Mandel, Dean of the Libraries Emerita, NYU.
