Abstract

"Scrap Theory: Reproductive Injustice in the Contemporary Black Feminist Imagination" is a radical inquiry into these untheorized cultural productions which document the emotional traumas produced from being separated from their children via state-sanctioned violence. By deploying a black feminist methodology of scrap theory which elevates archival material otherwise thought to be interstitial, fragmented, or unimportant, I argue Black women’s cultural production is a robust source of documentation on the particular horrors of Black maternal dispossession.
