In a September 28, 2021 opinion piece for Inside Higher EdKimberly Adams F’21 and Annie Galvin F’19 join nine scholars in offering concrete ideas on how to harness podcasts as a productive tool for teaching and scholarship.
 
Adams, an ACLS Emerging Voices Fellow at Stanford University, co-hosts the podcast High Theory, which “takes on difficult ideas from the academy with irreverence.” Galvin is the associate producer at The Ezra Klein Show, a podcast housed in the Opinion department of the New York Times.

Now that scholarly podcasting is alive and thriving, it’s time to give some shape and structure to this growing field. Universities should support this new form of knowledge creation and recognize its distinct attributes without replicating the vetting processes and gatekeeping mechanisms of yesteryear.
