Camilo Villalpando Headshot

The American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS) is pleased to announce that Camilo Villalpando has joined ACLS staff as the Manager of Member Society Relations, as of April 29, 2024. With more than 20 years of experience in higher education, Villalpando will support the 81 learned societies that are members of ACLS, including working with the Council of Executive Officers (CEO) and society delegates, assisting with programming for members, and identifying and implementing collaborative projects with societies.

Prior to his arrival at ACLS, Villalpando served as Director of Talent and the UIA Fellows program at the University Innovation Alliance and in a variety of leadership roles in the education and nonprofit sectors. He received his MFA in creative writing from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 2007 and has done additional studies and consulting in areas of conflict resolution, executive coaching, change management, and organizational development.

ACLS member societies are national or international organizations in the humanities and interpretive social sciences. This singular network works collectively in addressing common challenges facing societies of all sizes and representing a variety of humanistic fields, particularly those related to maintaining and improving conditions for research, education, and communication among scholars.
