Abstract
This research project examines the nature of the relationship between economic development, public policy, and social problems in the transitioning societies of Eastern Europe and Eurasia and is concerned specifically with determining the effects that rising income inequality and social stratification have on propagating the trafficking of persons in Poland, Russia, and, comparatively, China. This research will fill several existing and prominent gaps in both scholarly and popular literature on human trafficking through examining it from an institutional and individual perspective.
