Abstract

This project takes a comparative perspective on the formation of ritual systems in Southeast China and adjacent areas during the Bronze Age. The research area includes Southeast China, Korea, Japan, and Vietnam. To address questions concerning the formation of these ritual systems, this project examines ritual characteristics of each subregion, the processes of state formation, and the nature of interactions between the center (the Central Plain) and adjacent areas (Southeast China and adjacent areas).
