Abstract

“The Maternal Is Political” comprises literary criticism of creative works by mothers who were influential in writing, mentoring, publishing, and liberatory action. The book explicates this question, “How did these mother-writers scrutinize and redefine motherhood in their writing and living to address social justice issues of personal urgency and political importance?”
