Abstract

Ancient DNA is becoming an important tool in archaeological research due to its unprecedented accuracy and precision in identifying biological remains from archaeological sites. This project supports ongoing international collaborations by aiding in planning and construction of a dedicated ancient DNA laboratory at Shandong University. The new laboratory provides the foundation for an archaeology-based ancient DNA program at the university. China has a rich history and more archaeological excavations take place every year. This new program at Shandong University will significantly boost China’s capacity to apply ancient DNA analysis in archaeological investigations.
