Abstract

This course examines the societal, religious, scientific, and ethical aspects of hunger. The course work is embedded in work with local hunger-relief organizations and in exploration of the contemplative practices that motivate and sustain many of those who work with the hungry. Contemplation is also used as a pedagogical method in the classroom, through use of "lectio divina" and reflective journal-keeping.
