“I Left You for A Faraway Place: The Global Uyghur Diaspora” investigates how Uyghurs displaced by mass repression and surveillance reconstruct lives and communities across continents. Combining ethnographic fieldwork, oral history, and transnational analysis, the book foregrounds Uyghur voices to examine how exile reshapes language, memory, and belonging. It situates the Uyghur diaspora as a dynamic site of resilience, political expression, and cultural continuity, revealing how a people navigate loss and remake a sense of homeland in dispersion.
