Abstract

This project recognizes the 2020 pro-abortion protests in Poland as momentous and populist events that marked the end of the politics of compromise and consensus where abortion rights are concerned, and created new political frontier. Conceptually, it uses analytical lenses of reproductive agency, reproductive justice and social reproduction to incorporate gender social justice into analysis of democratization and re-democratization processes in Europe. Empirically, it draws on existing qualitative data collected from over 600 feminist and queer organizations in Poland to assess transformative potential of new forms of intersectional democratic practices of feminist and queer mobilizations.
