The ACLS Associate Member network includes more than 200 scholarly institutions which have demonstrated commitment to the humanities and social sciences. We would like to extend particular welcome to new members who joined us in 2024:

  • Claremont Graduate University
  • Fairfield University
  • Florida International University
  • Hofstra University
  • Seattle University
  • University of Central Florida
  • University of San Francisco

ACLS Associates meet regularly to strengthen connections between institutions, discuss ways to support the humanities and social sciences, and foster creative solutions to challenges in higher education. We are delighted to have these new institutions as part of our community of scholars and leaders and look forward to the perspectives they bring.

As the founding director of Hofstra’s Institute for Public Humanities and the Arts, I am thrilled that we have joined ACLS as an associate member. I have already gained so much from meeting colleagues across the country and hearing them talk about their projects, innovations, and challenges. ACLS is providing exactly the big-table conversations we need now—about the vital importance of keeping scholarship and universities alive and thriving.

ACLS Associate Members are a diverse collective of universities, liberal arts colleges, libraries, museums and scholarly centers. Recent meetings included discussion of fundraising in the university setting, evaluating publicly-engaged scholarship, and future directions in ACLS grant and fellowship programs. Associates may also send representatives to ACLS annual meetings, other events and convenings, and they receive our monthly newsletter.

As part of our commitment to inclusive excellence, nearly a quarter of Associates are MSIs, which are members at no charge. If your organization is interested in becoming an Associate Member of ACLS, please contact Mary Richter.
