ACLS Sparks Conversation About Value of Humanities and Social Sciences through Social Media Campaign
From April 13-17, 2026, ACLS launched “Talk About It: The Value of Humanists and Social Scientists,” a social media campaign built around a clear, compelling message: the world needs more humanities and social sciences scholars and research.
More than 180 academic societies, universities, humanities centers, academic presses, and individuals contributed over 485 posts across multiple platforms, spreading the conversation through the hashtags #TalkAboutHumanities and #TalkAboutSocialSciences. The campaign drew voices from around the globe, with participants joining in from Australia, Canada, France, India, Spain, the Philippines, Thailand, the United Kingdom, and across the United States.
Posts lifted up the value of research in the humanities and social sciences, as well as the positive impact that disciplines have on the public, with posts highlighting museum education and tours; community-engaged research projects and archives; teaching at K-12 schools, colleges, and universities; and open access scholarship.
ACLS is extending the current campaign through the end of May. Please join in using the toolkit below! You can also sign up for our monthly newsletter to learn about future campaign focus periods.
