ACLS Signs Coalition for International Education Letter on Elimination of Title VI and Fulbright Funding
The American Council of Learned Societies joined 26 other academic organizations as cosignatories to a Coalition for International Education (CIE) letter calling to reverse the elimination of future funding for HEA-Title VI and Fulbright Hays and reinstate intended Congressional funding.
On September 29, 2025, CIE submitted the letter to Secretary Linda McMahon over the Department of Education’s decision to cancel ongoing competitions for Fulbright-Hays. Eliminating these programs will affect thousands of students, faculty, government agencies, and companies, putting a halt to the advancement of American interests and values that contribute to U.S global leadership.
