ACLS Gathers Community in Cape Cod

On September 6, 2025, ACLS hosted a casual gathering of community members and local academics in Cape Cod. The Outer Cape has long been associated with artistic, cultural and intellectual pursuits. In a stirring conversation, ACLS President Joy Connolly encouraged guests to be bold in their defense of higher education, the humanities, and social sciences. She shared a glimpse of the high-caliber research that ACLS is supporting today. Attendees were grateful to be among individuals committed to values like academic freedom, critical thinking, and the creation of knowledge that undergird our mission.
Our thanks to Lizabeth Cohen F’93, Howard Mumford Jones Professor of American Studies at Harvard University, and former Dean of Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study, and Herrick Chapman F’85, Professor Emeritus of History and French Studies at New York University, for opening their home for this event.
