Rebecca Hewett is a Program Officer in U.S. Programs. Prior to joining ACLS, Rebecca served as the executive director of the Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation (SDCF), where she led the organization’s programming and fundraising portfolios supporting professional development for theater directors and choreographers across the country. Prior to leading SDCF, she was the senior program associate at The Shubert Foundation for five years, where she advised prospective applicants, evaluated applications, and conducted site visits in support of the Foundation’s annual $30M in grants to non-profit theater companies nationwide.

Her relationship with ACLS began in 2011, when she joined the first cohort of the Mellon/ACLS Public Fellows as a cultural programs specialist for the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs. In her Public Fellows role, Rebecca managed grant-giving to arts and cultural organizations in New York City, performed data analysis, and provided technical assistance to grantee organizations. She earned her Ph.D. in Theatre History and Criticism from the University of Texas at Austin in 2010 and her B.A. from The College of William and Mary in Virginia.
