Joyce Appleby, professor emerita of history at the University of California, Los Angeles, delivered the 2012 Charles Homer Haskins Prize Lecture on May 11, during the ACLS Annual Meeting in Philadelphia,PA. Named for the first chairman of ACLS, the lecture series was established in 1983 and has as its theme "A Life of Learning."
