Fellowship Details

This program will not be offered in the 2010-11 fellowship competition.

Program eligibility has been revised for 2011-12.

  • 2010 – 11 dissertation completion fellows (including the Mellon/ACLS DCF and other competitions of national merit approved by ACLS) are eligible to apply in fall 2011.
  • Eligibility is further limited to applicants who successfully completed (defended and deposited) their dissertation within the fellowship tenure or by August 31, 2011, whichever comes first.

The Mellon/ACLS Recent Doctoral Recipients Fellowships is the second stage of the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation/ACLS Early Career Fellowship Program, which provides support for young scholars. The first part of this program—the Mellon/ACLS Dissertation Completion Fellowships—makes possible a year of supported research and writing, to help students complete their dissertation. The second part of the program provides support for a year following the completion of the doctorate for scholars to advance their research. A grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation supports this program.
