ACLS Seeks Part-time Intern for June-July 2010 [SEARCH CLOSED]

The American Council of Learned Societies seeks a part-time intern for its fellowships and grants programs. ACLS is committed to the advancement of humanistic studies in all fields of learning in the humanities and the social sciences. During the most recent 2009-10 fellowships cycle, ACLS awarded more than $14 million in stipends to US-based scholars. For more information, visit www.acls.org. Applicants should be interested in gaining valuable experience in nonprofit administration, with a particular emphasis on the humanities and higher education. A knowledge of or interest in scholarship and graduate education is preferable.
Responsibilities will include:
- providing administrative support for fellowship staff during peer-reviewer recruitment;
- managing database records for applicants, fellows, and contacts;
- assisting with research and data collection; and
- other projects and duties as directed.
Candidates should possess the following qualifications:
- currently seeking a Bachelor of Arts degree or recently graduated;
- excellent Internet research skills;
- experience with database maintenance or willingness to learn;
- proficiency in MS Excel; and
- excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
This part-time internship is for the months of June and July at the ACLS’s midtown office, with a requirement of 20 hours per week. This internship is unpaid; however, ACLS is able to offer a stipend of $800 to cover lunches and transportation.
