ACLS is excited to partner with The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation on this innovative program that aims to demonstrate that the capacities developed in the advanced study of the humanities have wide application, both within and beyond the academy. “Challenging times call for new ventures,” says director of fellowship programs Nicole Stahlmann. “The Public Fellows program has been able to give humanities Ph.D.s opportunities to engage with the important work of a number of non-profit and government organizations. The expanded range of placements of this second set of fellows attests to the vitality of this new fellowship model.”
