ACLS Increases Fellowship Stipends in 2011-12 Competition
6/23/2011
President Pauline Yu announced at the ACLS Annual Meeting that ACLS Fellowship stipends awarded in 2011-12 would be raised to $65,000 for full professors (an increase of $5,000), $45,000 for associate professors (an increase of $5,000), and $35,000 for assistant professors.
The ACLS Fellowship, our central fellowship program, is the only ACLS program supported by an endowment. It is open to individuals from all fields, ranks, and institutions, as well as to independent scholars (who do apply and succeed). Generous contributions from foundations and individual donors, as well as subscriptions from colleges and universities have helped the endowment to triple in size since 1997, when we began a concerted effort to increase the support ACLS provides to scholars. In 2011, ACLS received a Challenge Grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities to help further accelerate this campaign.
