On the Passing of Michael Heim
Michael Heim, translator, scholar, and friend to ACLS, died this past September. Michael was influential in a number of ACLS programs through his participation in the Committees on East European Studies and on East European Language Training, his service on the editorial board of the journal East European Politics and Societies, and his leadership of the Social Science Translation Project.
In "Michael Heim's Legacy," Andrzej W. Tymowski, director of ACLS international programs, describes Michael's work and the "principled multilingualism" he advocated. The remembrance was written for The Bridge/moct, the new online publication of the International Association for the Humanities. It is, fittingly, available in both English and Russian.
