ACLS Mourns the Loss of Cliff Kuhn

11/10/2015

cliff_kuhnWe at ACLS were deeply saddened to learn of the sudden death of Clifford M. Kuhn earlier this week.

Cliff was a national and international leader in the field of oral history, bringing a signature enthusiasm to his teaching at Georgia State University, to his own scholarship and publications, and to the civic life of Atlanta, where he was co-chair of the Content Committee for the Center for Civil and Human Rights.

“The pride of Cliffs career was the Oral History Association, which he helped bring to Georgia State in 2013 and took leadership of as its first executive director,” writes his university colleague Alex Sayf Cummings. Cliff played the principal role in OHA’s admission to ACLS in 2014 and was a vibrant and valued member of the Conference of Administrative Officers. His contribution to the ACLS Focus on Member Societies series, describing OHA’s mission and activities, is available here.

The Oral History Association has posted a tribute to Cliff here.
