Grant Details

  • Deadline: January 29, 2010
  • Amount: $1,000 - $2,500


The American Council of Learned Societies offers travel funding for presentation of papers at scholarly conferences taking place between June 1, 2010 and December 31, 2011 (up to $1,000 for travel within North America; up to $2,500 for intercontinental travel). The purpose of these grants is to build the East European field and to encourage comparative study that includes East European studies.

Topics of papers must be related to Eastern Europe, but applications are welcome from East European specialists proposing to attend conferences whose general theme lies outside Eastern Europe as well as from scholars whose area expertise lies outside Eastern Europe who propose to attend an East European-focused event.

Applicants must be a citizens or permanent residents of the United States. Funds may not be used in Western Europe.
