As director of web and information systems at the American Council of Learned Societies, Candace Frede ensures that ACLS's objectives are supported by its infrastructure and strategic technologies. Frede also directs the in-house publications program. She joined ACLS in 1987.

Frede holds a BA in anthropology from New York University and is a member of Alpha Sigma Lambda, the honors society for continuing education. She has over 35 years of experience in print/digital design and information technology, having started in desktop publishing on a Vydec in 1979. She previously worked at James Stewart Polshek and Partners, architects, and the Foundation for Child Development.
